What is peached fabric?

A peached fabric is one that has been specially finished in order to make it feel soft to the touch and more comfortable to wear.

The peaching process is relatively simple. After the fabric has been woven, the fabric is stretched taut and left to dry. The material is then “peached” or brushed either by hand or by machine.

The machines used have mechanised rollers with abrasive bristles. These are brushed across the surface of the fabric to break some of the small surface fibres and tease them out. Although invisible to the naked eye, the appearance and feel of the fabric surface resembles the look and feel of the “fuzz” on the skin of a peach – hence the name of the process.

We have used peached fabric in some of our rugby training kit (for example, our Training drill top). This gives it a nice, soft feel and adds to your comfort when wearing it.
